On Sunday, November 22nd  at 4 pm, at Lucca’s Teatro del Giglio there’s a performance of Madama Butterfly staged as the first musical event in  “Lucca, i giorni di Puccini “ (Lucca Puccini Days) festival in conjunction with the start of the opera season. Puccini’s opera is staged in the Teatro del Giglio’s 2004 revival which celebrated the opera in its centenary year. Cio-Cio San is Maria Luigia Borsi while Giuseppe Gipali is Pinkerton. They are two performers of the highest international standing. Orchestra and Chorus of Tuscany conducted by Valerio Galli. Directed by Sandro Pasqualetto. Co-production by Teatro del Giglio of Lucca, Teatro Goldoni of Livorno, Teatro Sociale of Rovigo, the Municipal Theatre of Piacenza, Teatro Comunale di Modena Pavarotti.
