CONCERT OF WORLD PREMIERES FEATURES

The Oratorio dell’ Angelo Custode will once again host during the last week of July the Lucca International Festival and Summer Academy organized by St. John’s University in New York in collaboration with the Institute Musicale R. Baralli.  All is directed by the Italian American  Linda DiMartino Wetherill, Professor at St. John’s University.   An international competition, now in its 7th year, discovers new music for composers and performers , with concerts in Lucca and New York.  The price of participation is €500  for Italian students, including lodging in Lucca and all activities:  seminars, lesson, concerts, and workshops in chamber music,  composition, improvisation and Baroque music.  The activities begin July 24 and close on the 31st at the Oratorio and also at Institute R. Baralli.  At 10 a.m. are presentations from the resident composers; at 16:00 are master classes and discussions;  every evening at 21:00 are concerts.

On Tuesday 26th , the concert of world premieres features new solo and chamber works for  percussion performed by Thierry Miroglio, professor at the Paris Conservatory. Accompanied by Parisian dancer Sophie Jegou.  Works include those of Fernando Maglia, of Buenos Aires, Mr. Miroglio,  winner of the 6th contest “A walk with the moon” by Gaetano Lorandi of Villa Verla and executed by Miroglio and flutist Linda DiMartino, and then Mr. Cazzato will première a violin solo by the winner of the 5th competition, Alastair Greig, from London.
