CONCERT FOR CLARINET AND CELLO

The Oratorio dell’Angelo Custode will once again host during the last week of July the Lucca International Festival and Summer Academy organized by St. John’s University in New York in collaboration with the Institute Musicale R. Baralli.  All is directed by the Italian American  Linda DiMartino Wetherill, Professor at St. John’s University.   An international competition, now in its 7th year, discovers new music for composers and performers , with concerts in Lucca and New York.  The price of participation is €500  for Italian students, including lodging in Lucca and all activities:  seminars, lesson, concerts, and workshops in chjamber music,  composition, improvisation and Baroque music.  The activities begin July 24 and close on the 31st at the Oratorio and also at Istitute R. Baralli.  At 10 a.m. are presentations from the resident composers; at 16:00 are master classes and discussions;  every evening at 21:00 are concerts.

The 29th we will have premieres from Dominiqe Le Maitre for clarinet and cello performed by Luccca’s Antony Capula and Barrett; Lucca’s composer Girolamo Deraco’s “Time Flies” by Connecticut violinist Lindsey Jones; Fernando Maglia’s “Work for 12 Computers”; Girolamo Deraco’s “Animae Mea” for acting clarinetist, Capula;   “Pulsars” for 2 flutes, Mumford and Wetherill, by Dominique Lemaitre, Paris, and Leo Brouwer’s “El Elogia de la Danza” for solo guitar performed by Fernando Maglia.
