CHORAL CONCERT FOR THE CENTENARY OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR

On Saturday, November 7th in the church of San Francesco at 9 pm, as part of the events organized by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, there will be a choral concert with the ” Monte Cauriol ” choir of Genoa, in tribute to the soldiers in WWI.

“… Up there among the rocks – the memory of war, of places, of life on the centenary of the Great War” is the title of the evening, which will be introduced by a short performance by the ” Giacomo Puccini ” choir Camigliano, conducted by Luigi Della Maggiora, who produced the evening.

The ” Monte Cauriol ” choir was founded in Genoa in 1949 by university students passionate about mountains. The group is true elite in the field of national choral style, unmistakable, brilliant and refined. Its repertoire includes popular alpine and mountain songs. The choir was directed in the early 50s by Armando Corso, and was highly successful thanks to his research in popular song, so much so that he was invited by RCA Italian to record eight LP’s. Between 1990 and 2003 it recorded six new CDs. The choir, which has performed more than 1200 concerts in Italy and abroad, has been directed since 2013 by Armando’s son Massimo Corso.
